Lauren Sánchez was astounded and in awe of Jeff Bezos’ massive engagement ring he hid beneath her pillow when she was getting into her bed — she blacked out afterwards.

In a new article for Vogue’s December edition, the 53-year-old former TV anchor relived the moment when the founder and former CEO of Amazon popped the question in May on board his $500 million yacht.

“When he opened the box, I think I blacked out a bit,” Sánchez admitted of the proposal.

Regarding wedding preparations, Sánchez informed the publication that she is taking things slowly. 

Like Bezos, she was going through a divorce from her spouse of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell, when the two started dating in January 2019.

“We’re still thinking about the wedding, what it’s going to be. Is it going to be big? Is it going to be overseas? We don’t know yet. We’ve only been engaged five months!”

But as far as her outfit goes, she has some ideas.

The mother of three said she hasn’t really decided on a dress yet, but she did mention Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and Valentino as some of her favourite fashion labels. 

She exclaimed, “There are so many amazing designers!” and continued, “I’ll slow down once I get a minute.”

Briony Raymond, a jeweller and expert told People that after hearing about their engagement and seeing Sanchez wear the diamond sparkler around Europe early in the summer, it “appears to feature a spectacular cushion cut diamond in the 25–30 carat range set in an ultra-classic four prong platinum mounting.” Raymond also added that it is “a magnificent ring perfectly suited to her fabulous style.”

Raymond also stated that “the diamond appears to be extremely white; based on a clarity commensurate with such a high colour grade, I would estimate the cost for such an extraordinary ring to be anywhere from $3 million to upwards of $5 million depending on the exact specifications of the diamond.”

A source told People that the pair was “on cloud nine— so happy and madly in love” as they travelled across Spain and France together, just days after Bezos proposed. “They seem to be enjoying their trip and have been in a terrific mood. Lauren in particular appeared ecstatic as they explored the yacht upon their arrival in Spain.

The source added of Sánchez’s new jewel, “Her engagement ring is beyond stunning. And huge! She keeps playing with it and looking at it. You can tell she loves it.”

The couple has been travelling the world and spending quality time together ever since they announced their engagement in May.

Before stopping in Ibiza, they began their joyous and enchanting engagement vacation in the South of France.

They formally announced their engagement in August with a party on Bezos’ boat, which was berthed on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. 

Celebrating the soon-to-be husband and wife were Bill Gates, Paula Hurd, Kris Jenner, STAUD creator Sarah Staudinger, and Whitney Wolfe Herd, CEO of Bumble.

They maintained their run of summer vacations when they were sighted in Croatia later that month with Usher, Katy Perry, and Orlando Bloom.
