Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says regional mechanisms play a key role in establishing peace and promoting convergence among the countries in the region.

In a Saturday phone conversation with Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, the top Iranian diplomat added that further activation of formats for regional cooperation would serve the interests of regional countries.

The Azerbaijani foreign minister, for his part, stressed the importance of boosting dialogue and regional mechanisms without interference of extra-regional states.

The top Iranian and Azerbaijani diplomats hailed growing relations between Tehran and Baku and called for more cooperation between the two sides on regional and international developments.
