LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Saturday that workers of political parties play an important role in ensuring the continuity of the democratic process in the country.

Speaking to the media after visiting the residence of the deceased PMLN worker, Attique Chaudhry, he said that the PMLN has always engaged in politics of service and has consistently been the voice of its workers.

Atiq Chaudhry stood by the party in courts, katcheries, and police stations, Attaullah Tarar remarked.

“Political workers are our assets; we have achieved success because of dedicated activists like Attique Chaudhry,” he said, while also commending the late Attique Chaudhry’s services as a committed party worker who stood by the party even in the most difficult times.

He emphasised that sincere workers never compromise on principles and never sell their loyalties for petty benefits. The minister mentioned that those who support one in difficult times are always remembered. He expressed condolences to Attique Chaudhry’s children and widow.

Attaullah Tarar assured that he had always advocated for the rights of the party’s workers, and their interests would be safeguarded. Regarding the education and employment of Attique Chaudhry’s children, he mentioned that the party would make suitable arrangements, ensuring that his family was not left alone.

The minister highlighted that the government’s foremost priority was to improve the economy. In response to a question, he acknowledged that the economic conditions of the country were better during the previous governments of the PMLN compared to the economic meltdown witnessed during the four-year tenure of the founding PTI government. He said that during the last 16 months of the PDM rule, there had been a greater focus on economic recovery.

He noted that the PMLN faced challenges and difficulties, with its workers always being an asset to the party. He mentioned that an important meeting of the Federal Cabinet was scheduled for today.

A few days ago, the prime minister had issued written targets to all ministries, encompassing both short-term and long-term goals. This marked the first time in Pakistan’s history that ministries had been assigned written goals. These objectives included addressing unemployment, reducing inflation, and resolving economic issues faced by the people, he disclosed. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would discuss this in the Federal Cabinet meeting today, and all ministries would be held accountable for their performance, he concluded.
