Iran has strongly condemned joint US-British airstrikes on Yemen amid their military and political support for Israel, saying they attest to the two countries’ complicity in the atrocities of the Zionist regime.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the early Thursday assaults on San’an and Sa’ada are a blatant violation of the UN Charter and the rules of international law on the prohibition of the use of force and respect for the territorial integrity of countries.

“These aggressive and reckless actions of the US and the UK against the oppressed and brave people of Yemen are a dangerous participation of these two countries in the escalation of insecurity and tension in the West Asian region, which encourage the Israeli regime to continue genocide and war-mongering,” he said.

Baghaei praised the “honorable support” of the Yemenis for the oppressed Palestinian and Lebanese nations, saying US and British attacks on Yemen and destruction of the country’s critical infrastructure cannot undermine the nation’s solidarity with Palestinian and Lebanese resistance fronts.

US and British warplanes bombed capital Sana’a and several other areas, with the Pentagon saying it used “B-2 stealth bombers for the 1st time in airstrikes on Yemen”.

Leader of the Ansarullah resistance movement Abul-Malik al-Houthi’s said later Thursday that the attacks will not deter Yemen from continuing its operations against Israel and its allies in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese nations.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

The Yemeni armed forces have said they will not stop their attacks until unrelenting Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza end.
