Head of the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini warns that the clock was ticking for the Palestinian children in Gaza, saying the ongoing massacre in the war-torn Strip is unjustifiable.

In a post on X on Monday, Lazzarini said “one child gets killed every hour” in the Israeli regime’s war against Gaza.

“These are not numbers. These are lives cut short. Killing children cannot be justified,” he added.

The UNRWA head emphasized that the survived children are “scarred physically and emotionally.”

“They are losing their lives, their futures and mostly their hope,” Lazzarini pointed out.

More than 45,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed as a result of the war that was launched on October 7, 2023 following a retaliatory operation by Gaza’s resistance movements.

Lazzarini said at least 14,500 of those killed in Gaza have been children.

According to the United Nations Human Rights Office, 44% of the fatalities are children, although other estimates have come up with higher percentages.

A new study has revealed the pervasive fear of death that the Israeli regime’s 14-month-long war of genocide on the Gaza Strip has struck into the hearts of the coastal sliver’s children.

The survey, carried out by a Gaza-based NGO and sponsored by the London-based War Child Alliance charity, showed that as much as 96 percent of the territory’s children felt that their death was imminent, and 49% actually wished to die.

The assessment also revealed that 92% of the minors were “not accepting of reality,” 79% suffered from nightmares, and 73% displayed symptoms of aggression.
