Hamas has condemned the Palestinian Authority, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, for “shedding blood” in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, where Israel is currently carrying out a large-scale military offensive.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Gaza-based resistance movement “condemned in the strongest terms the continued shedding of Palestinian blood at the hands of the Authority’s security forces in the West Bank.”

It said the forces of the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority had blockaded the Razi Hospital and arrested wounded Palestinian fighters in a move that “crosses all red lines and national ethics.”

Hamas also called on “all factions and national and community figures in the West Bank to come out with all their strength in order to put an end to the serious violations of the Authority, and to confront the occupation’s aggression and targeting of the resistance fighters in Jenin, by escalating the clashes at all points of contact and at military checkpoints and settlements in the West Bank.”

The resistance movement also said the timing of these grave violations, coinciding with Israel’s aggression against Jenin, leaves no doubt that the security coordination between the Authority and the Tel Aviv regime has reached catastrophic levels.

It said this approach is unequivocally rejected by all Palestinian people and Palestinian resistance factions.

Hamas called on “all factions and national and community figures in the West Bank to come out with all their strength in order to put an end to the serious violations of the Authority, and to confront the occupation’s aggression and targeting of the resistance fighters in Jenin, by escalating the clashes at all points of contact and at military checkpoints and settlements in the West Bank.”

The attack on Jenin, where the regime’s forces have carried out multiple raids and large-scale incursions over the past year, comes only a few days after the start of a long-awaited ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Over the past few years, the Israeli military has conducted numerous raids in the West Bank, which escalated after the onset of the campaign of genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023. Palestinians have also been ruthlessly attacked by Israeli settlers.

At least 859 Palestinians have since been killed and over 6,700 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the health ministry.
