A former UN official, who resigned in 2023 in protest at the Israeli regime’s United States-backed genocidal war against Palestinians, has urged Americans to rid themselves of the “gang of sociopaths” governing the country after Washington hosts the mastermind of the war, Benjamin Netanyahu.
Craig Mokhiber, former director of the New York office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, passed the remarks in a post on X, former Twitter, on Monday.
“The VIP reception given in Washington to the globally despised international fugitive and blood-soaked genocidaire, [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, by Dems & Reps alike, is further proof that the election has fundamentally changed nothing in the US oligarchy,” he lamented.
“One corrupt gang of ruthless sociopaths has given a turn to another corrupt gang of ruthless sociopaths,” Mokhiber said, referring to the US’s ruling authorities.
The country’s previous and current leaders, including President Donald Trump, he added, “both represent the same destructive interests of the same powerful billionaires, corporations, banks, and lobbies who rule behind the scenes.”
The remarks came amid a temporary ceasefire that is expected to end the 15-month-long Israeli war that has so far killed way upwards of 47,000 Palestinians, with the regime regularly violating the truce to conjure up memories of the ferocious onslaught.
The warfare was enabled by unprecedentedly-strong military, political, and intelligence American support that saw Washington increasing its yearly $3-billion aid package to Tel Aviv to $24 billion.
The plane carrying Netanyahu and his wife touched down in the American capital on Sunday, despite the former having incurred an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for his war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Both before and after issuance of the verdict, US officials mounted heavy pressure on the tribunal, threatening its justices with sanctions if they either imposed or refused to overturn the ruling.
Also on Monday, however, the Israeli regime’s Maariv daily reported that Netanyahu’s aircraft had avoided the airspace of several European countries en route to the United States due to concerns over the warrant.
Concluding his remarks, Mokhiber addressed Americans, calling on them to “free yourselves [of your leaders] for goodness’ sake,” although, “many of you don’t care about the rest of the world and the harms your government causes.”
