Israel has made clear that it rewards surrender with erasure, a Lebanese political analyst has said.
“Israel has made it patently clear that it does not reward surrender or concessions,” Amal Saad, who is an expert on the Axis of Resistance, wrote on Wednesday on X.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin “Netanyahu’s declared intent to ethnically cleanse and annex Gaza—even in the event of Hamas’s surrender—makes this undeniable. The logic is not peace through submission, but erasure,” he wrote.
“We see the same logic in Syria where Israel has demilitarized the Syrian state and continues to occupy large swathes of its territory, despite the new regime’s efforts at appeasement and capitulation,” he stated.
“Concessions don’t temper Israeli ambitions—they facilitate them. Submission becomes a stage in subjugation Israel, with the US’ full backing, believes a new phase of unapologetic, methodical brutality will force peoples and states into submission,” he wrote.
“Genocide is no longer denied or disguised; it is practiced as statecraft, openly and without shame,” the analyst lamented.
“This isn’t just dehumanizing; it denies Palestinians and Arabs not only dignity but the will to live and resist, as if the desire not to die is irrational when it comes from them,” he wrote.
“It’s not just that the will to survive is treated as illegitimate—it’s unseen altogether,” he said.
“The US and Israel no longer comprehend a basic truth: people resist annihilation not because it’s strategic, but because it’s instinct,” he observed.
“Yet their resistance is no longer read as survival—it’s framed as provocation because they are no longer recognized as sentient beings with any claim to life. Resistance, however futile in the face of such monstrosity, becomes incomprehensible only if you see your enemy as less than alive,” he pointed out.
“This is not only morally grotesque—it’s strategically myopic. Palestinians and people in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran and beyond will continue to resist in every way they can. Not necessarily because they believe they will win, but because resistance to erasure and humiliation is what affirms life itself,” Saad noted.
“Even when resistance fails militarily, it still threatens power. It keeps alive the Palestinian cause and the cause of justice more generally, denies the oppressors resolution or finality, and forces domination to be sustained by perpetual violence and moral collapse,” he said.
“It spreads defiance and sets a moral and strategic example: domination is never total,” he concluded.
