More regional states have expressed support for the indirect negotiations that were held between Iran and the United States in the Omani capital Muscat, calling for the continuation.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani conveyed Doha’s approval of the process, while voicing the country’s readiness to support the diplomatic track during a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday.
Qatar’s potential contribution to the process, Al Thani said, would be aimed at resolving outstanding issues between Tehran and Washington.
Araghchi, for his part, outlined the objectives and framework of the Muscat talks, stressing the Islamic Republic’s commitment to utilize all diplomatic tools towards unraveling existing complications.
UAE praises Iran’s diplomatic engagement
In a separate phone call with Araghchi, Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his appreciation for Iran’s decision to pursue dialogue with the US.
He described the move as a positive diplomatic step and voiced hope that the process would yield constructive outcomes for the broader region.
Egypt echoes support for talks
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty welcomed the negotiations during a phone conversation with the top Iranian diplomat, referencing a previous official statement by Cairo that had endorsed the Muscat process.
Abdelatty expressed hope that the dialogue would lead to a “favorable outcome.”
Araghchi thanked Egypt for its supportive stance and elaborated on Tehran’s outlook regarding the future of diplomacy with Washington.
In another exchange, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and Araghchi discussed bilateral ties, regional dynamics, and the discussions between Tehran and Washington.
Iraq, Turkey welcome Muscat talks during joint meeting
Senior Iraqi and Turkish officials, including the foreign ministers of both the countries, also voiced their support for the talks during a joint security meeting held in the Turkish coastal city of Antalya on Sunday.
The delegations welcomed the talks, hoping that they will help yield peaceful solutions for contentious issues between the Islamic Republic and the US.
The April 12 negotiations in Oman marked the first formal indirect contact between Iranian and American delegations under US President Donald Trump’s second term.
Both sides have welcomed the outcome as constructive and promising, while Iran has underlined that the talks are solely geared towards addressing the US’s illegal and oppressive sanctions on the Islamic Republic and the nuclear issue.
The two sides have agreed to continue the talks in Europe still with Omani mediation.
Several other regional countries had previously likewise announced their backing of the process.
