The Lebanese resistance group has strongly denounced “the crime of hundreds of extremist settlers desecrating the sanctity of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque” over the past three days. 

In a statement released on Tuesday, Hezbollah stated that the settlers stormed the courtyards of the holy Muslim site and committed “provocative acts” under protection from Israeli soldiers and Knesset lawmakers.

“This brazenly aggressive act aims to create a new and dangerous reality within the context of its settlement and Judaization project aimed at altering the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem and its holy sites,” the statement read.

The condemnation comes as hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed the al-Aqsa mosque in the occupied al-Quds, in yet another violation against the holy site.

According to the Palestinian media, nearly 500 Israelis, backed by regime forces, entered the mosque compound. They performed rituals and carried on provocative tours.

Meanwhile, the Israeli forces imposed restrictions on Muslim worshippers trying to enter the mosque. Several Palestinian prayers were detained at the gates.

Despite international prohibitions, the Israeli regime routinely enables such incursions into the Mosque complex. 

Palestinians demand control over the occupied West Bank as part of their future independent state and regard the eastern sector of al-Quds as the capital of their future sovereign state.

The al-Aqsa Mosque compound sits just above the Western Wall plaza and houses both the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to an agreement signed between the regime and the Jordanian government following Israel’s seizure of East al-Quds in 1967, non-Muslim worship at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound is prohibited.

Many of the Israeli Knesset members are individuals who support the demolition of the Islamic holy site to build a Jewish temple instead.

The Palestinian Hamas resistance movement in recent years has called for mass mobilization and a stronger presence of Palestinians from all walks of life in the occupied Old City of al-Quds, as well as the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, in order to thwart the regime’s Judaization scheme.
