Doctors Without Borders has decried Israel for massacring Palestinians in Gaza and humanitarian workers trying to alleviate their suffering.

“Gaza has been turned into a mass grave of Palestinians and those coming to their assistance,” Amande Bazerolle, MSF’s emergency coordinator in Gaza, said in a statement on Wednesday.

The organization said Israel’s ongoing strikes on Gaza show a “blatant disregard” for the safety of humanitarian workers.

The Health Ministry in Gaza on Tuesday said 1,400 health workers have been killed since Israel launched the genocidal war on the strip in October 2023.

Last month, Israel’s military opened fire on ambulances in Gaza, killing 15 emergency workers.

“We are witnessing in real time the destruction and forced displacement of the entire population in Gaza,” Bazerolle said.

The regime’s strikes have not spared medical facilities. MSF teams have had to leave many facilities, while others continue operating with staff and patients trapped inside, unable to leave safely for hours at a time, according to the charity.

“With nowhere safe for Palestinians or those trying to help them, the humanitarian response is severely struggling under the weight of insecurity and critical supply shortages, leaving people with few, if any, options for accessing care,” Bazerolle said, as Israel has stopped the delivery of aid into Gaza.

On Tuesday, the UN Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA also said “the scarcity of medical care and essential medicines “only compounds” the suffering of the Palestinians and “intensifies their psychological trauma.”

Dr. Muhammad, head of an UNRWA medical point in Gaza, said, “We are doing everything we can, but the conditions are dire. We make do with what we have, but the severe shortages of medicine, painkillers, and other essential medical supplies pose a grave threat to the lives of our patients and exacerbate this medical crisis.”
