Israeli military captive Baron Braslavsky has blamed the regime’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and minister Ben-Gvir for his continued detention in Gaza, saying if killed, his blood will be on their hands.
“The next bomb will land on my head, and my blood will be on your hands. Prime Minister Netanyahu, I gave my vote in the last elections to Ben-Gvir. Ben-Gvir, you let me die here in Gaza, the same Gaza Strip you keep bombing and sealing off, without food and water. And we, the “Israeli” captives, are here day after day, suffering—suffering, suffering, suffering. Why are you abandoning us?” he said in a video released by the Al-Quds brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad.
Barslavsky, who is an Israeli soldier of eastern European settler origin, appealed to Israeli authorities, as well as Donald Trump, for his immediate release.
“My blood is on your neck, Mr. Prime Minister Netanyahu. Where are your promises to liberate us?… Trump, where are you? Where are your promises? Didn’t you say to release everyone through a deal?”
The Israeli captive also stated that Israel’s continued war in Gaza will not lead to the captives’ release, and that it only serves to put them in even more danger.
“There’s no chance in this world that you’ll get me out of here by military pressure. Even if you flip the whole world upside down, you won’t bring me back. The only thing that will happen in such an operation is that the [Islamic] Jihad fighters will notice and just blow up the whole place we’re in. That’s the directive, and that’s what will happen. You’ll get me out of here—if you get me out—in pieces.”
Barslavsky also pointed to the fact that the humanitarian crisis imposed on Gaza is also taking a toll on his well-being, saying, “I haven’t showered in two weeks because there is no water. Israel has cut off water to Gaza for months … I’m in pain all day and don’t know what to do.”
“The next illness I get, what will happen is very simple—I’ll die. They’ll bury me under a pile of sand.”
At the end of the video, the Israeli captive mentioned the scale of the civilian casualties caused by Israel’s genocide against the people of Gaza.
“Netanyahu, stop the blood. There are babies here in Gaza dying every day. Babies. Small children, eight, nine, ten years old. One-day-old babies—wrapped in plastic and thrown away.”
Barslavsky was captured by Palestinian fighters belonging to the Islamic Jihad on October 7 2023.
He remains a captive in Gaza after Netanyahu scrapped the ceasefire deal and further captive/prisoner swaps on March 18 to resume the genocide in Gaza.
Ben Gvir has also opposed ceasefire and captive/prisoner release proposals.
