German police have arrested several university students staging a demonstration in solidarity with the people of Gaza which “has turned into a mass grave of Palestinians and those coming to their assistance” by Israel.

The arrests came as between 40 and 60 students entered a lecture hall at Humboldt University to protest the government’s decision to deport four activists from the country.

They hung banners from the building’s windows, reading “You are complicit in genocide” of Palestinians in Gaza, “There is only one state, Palestine [19]48,” and “Intifada until victory”.

More than a dozen students staged a similar demonstration outside the university’s lecture building, chanting “Freedom for Palestine,” “Boycott Israel,” and “No borders, no deportations.”

They also directed their anger at the German government. “Germany is a fascist country,” they chanted.

Police, dressed in anti-riot gear, intervened after they were contacted by the university administration, violently dispersing the students and arresting some of them.

Since the relentless Israeli onslaught on Palestinians started on October 7, 2023, more than 51,000 Gazans, mostly women and children, have been killed.

On Wednesday, Doctors Without Borders humanitarian relief organization decried the Israeli massacre of Palestinians and aid workers trying to help the war-stricken people in Gaza.

“Gaza has been turned into a mass grave of Palestinians and those coming to their assistance,” Amande Bazerolle, MSF’s emergency coordinator in Gaza, said in a statement.
