An “overwhelmed” Canadian man has decided to give away his 300 cats and kittens to charity after caring after them for years, The Guardian reported.

Bruce Robinson asked an animal welfare charity to take away his cats due to their sheer number and expense.

Robinson said he “ended up in a crazy situation” after making the “bad decision” of caring after the abandoned cats during COVID-19.

He spent thousands of dollars every month to make sure the cats had 28kg of food every day, at times going without food himself.

He said he loved all of them equally and also had given them names.

According to the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), the cats were all in good condition and are very sociable.

Eileen Drever, a staff member of SPCA, said, “You know, he had a huge heart, and he was caring for them.”

The SPCA is trying to raise funds and looking for suitable houses to give away the cats.

In the meantime, the charity is looking after the food and supply needs for the cats.

Drever said, “Charges against the cat’s guardian were not being considered as he was the one who had reached out for help.”
