Yemeni air defense units have intercepted and shot down another American MQ-9 Reaper drone while it was violating the country’s airspace in the northern province of al-Jawf.
The drone was shot down while it was carrying out a reconnaissance drone operation above the area early on Friday, Yemeni media outlets reported.
The US military acknowledged the videos circulating online showing what appeared to be a flaming aircraft dropping out of the sky, and a field of burning debris in an area of Yemen’s al-Jawf province.
The military said it was investigating the incident, declining to elaborate further.
According to the Yemeni media, this was the 12th MQ-9 Reaper shot down by the country’s forces.
Back on September 30, Spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) Brigadier General Yahya Saree said Yemeni forces had downed a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the northwestern province of Sa’ada.
Saree said in a televised statement at the time that the unmanned aerial vehicle was targeted with a locally-made surface-to-air missile.

Israel launched its brutal campaign of genocide in Gaza after Palestinian resistance groups conducted a surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm into the occupied territories.
The regime has had in place a near-total siege on the coastal territory, which has reduced to a trickle the flow of foodstuffs, medicine, electricity, and water into the Palestinian territory.
Leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has said it is “a great honor and blessing to be confronting America directly.”
