The world’s first national expo focused on imports, the China International Import Expo (CIIE), has had a section dedicated to U.S. food and agriculture companies since last year. It aims to help these companies explore the Chinese market. Several agriculture industry leaders from the U.S. have emphasized the importance of cooperation with China. They say stronger ties in agriculture will benefit global trade and sustainable development. For example, U.S. soy producers have long-term collaborations with China, partnerships that have spanned 42 years. The CIIE is one of the best ways to build on this strong cooperation. And China’s increasing focus on climate-smart agriculture and sustainability will be another part of this win-win relationship. On these issues and more, CGTN’s Tian Wei talked to Jim Sutter, the CEO of the U.S. Soybean Export Council, and Steve Reinhard, the chair of the United Soybean Board.
