মেগা প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে যেসব টাকা লোপাট করা হয়েছে, পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের ঘাড়ে সেই বোঝা থেকে গেলো বলে মনে করে শ্বেতপত্র প্রণয়ন কমিটি।দেশের অর্থনৈতিক ও রাজনৈতিক স্থিতিশীলতা নিশ্চিত করা না গেলে দীর্ঘমেয়াদী সংস্কার কার্যক্রম করা যাবে না। সকালে, এনইসি’তে শ্বেতপত্র প্রণয়ন কমিটির সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এসব কথা বলেন কমিটির সদস্যরা।

আগামী ছ’মাসের মধ্যে খেলাপি ঋণ বেড়ে দ্বিগুণ হতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছেন গভর্নর ড. আহসান এইচ মনসুর। এর অর্ধেকের জন্য দায়ী বড় কয়েকটি গ্রুপের স্ক্যাম। এসব অর্থ ব্যাংক থেকে পাচার হয়ে গেছে বলেও মন্তব্য করেন গভর্নর। ব্যাংকিং খাতের প্রকৃত আর্থিক অবস্থা জানা এবং পাচার হওয়া অর্থ উদ্ধারের চেষ্টা চলছে বলেও প্রধান উপদেষ্টাকে জানিয়েছেন আহসান মনসুর।

The committee members said these things at the press conference of the White Paper Preparation Committee at the NEC in the morning.

Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur said that defaulted loans may double in the next six months. Scams by a few big groups are responsible for half of this. The governor also commented that this money has been laundered from the banks. Ahsan Mansur also informed the chief advisor that efforts are being made to know the real financial condition of the banking sector and recover the laundered money.
