The World Trade Organization has proven its value to the world economy, as the arbiter of disputes among trading nations. And, as the organization marks its 30th anniversary, it has made significant progress, though tall hurdles to trade remain. The WTO does project a three percent trade growth in 2025. Recently, U.S. President Trump announced plans to impose higher tariff on Chinese goods, while China and the EU are still in talks over intellectual property under the WTO’s dispute resolution framework. So, CGTN’s Tian Wei recently spoke with WTO Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who is starting her second term.
