The ball is now in “Russia’s court” according to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding the proposed 30-day ceasefire deal between Ukraine and Russia. Hours after the proposal was released, Russia launched air attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv, which came a day after a large-scale Ukranian drone strike on Moscow. How will Russia respond to the ceasefire proposal? Is the deal a serious start of a process toward lasting peace and stability? And how will the U.S. resumption of military assistance to Ukraine impact the warring situation?
