2023 marks the 20th anniversary of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the European Union. Official data shows the China Railway Express has operated a total of 81,000 trains to Europe, reaching 217 cities in 25 of the continent’s countries. Still, there is much more potential for cooperation between China and Europe. That’s especially true with energy amid efforts toward a green and digital transition. So to shore up trade and people-to-people relations, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna paid a visit to China from November 23 to 24 following the Xi-Biden meeting in San Francisco. Where are China-EU relations headed? What does Europe want to see happen with the China-U.S. relationship?
