Chinese scientists have recently succeeded in creating single-atom-layer metals with a thickness of just one 200,000th of the diameter of a human hair. The study was conducted by a research team at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Physics and was published in the latest issue of the Nature academic journal. Since the discovery of monolayer graphene in 2004, 2D materials have revolutionized the understanding of materials and driven breakthroughs in condensed matter physics and material science.
