This year we celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, with renewed confidence in our system of government and our path forward growing stronger than ever. Meanwhile, the world experienced yet another turbulent year: regional conflicts continued to claim lives and unsettle societies, U.S. politics remained divided even after the election, and upheavals broke out in many countries, with some even leading to chaos, tying us all to the world’s uncertainties.
