Five adult takins were spotted in Chongzhou area of southwest China’s Sichuan Giant Panda National Park with two of their cubs during a daily patrol on April 9. This was the first time the Sichuan takins were seen in the park with their cubs.

The Sichuan takin is a national first-level protected animal, and they often move in groups. Chongzhou area of the National Park, with an area of 280 square kilometers, is home to the country’s rare wild animals such as giant pandas, snow leopards and Sichuan takins.

In recent years, the local area has used various means, such as daily patrols, to timely and effectively grasp the status of wild animal and plant resources in the region and protect biodiversity.
