An intensive search is underway after a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other senior officials suffered a “hard landing” in northwestern province of East Azerbaijan. The landing area had been narrowed to a radius of 2 kilometers. Türkiye has dispatched a drone to assist. Ankara-based Anadolu agency said on social media platform X that the drone has identified a “source of heat suspected to be wreckage of helicopter carrying the Iranian president, and shared its coordinates with Iranian authorities.”
