China’s Special Representative on European Affairs, Wu Hongbo, says the EU’s labeling of China as a “partner, competitor and systemic rival” is like all three traffic lights shown at the same time, and both Chinese and Europeans are confused about whether to go forward, backward or stay put. “I do hope that the European Union friends and governments would stick to the original definition of our relations, that is: comprehensive strategic partnership,” Wu said.
