Israel has hit out at South Africa after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued an emergency order for the regime to step up humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a filing to the ICJ made public on Monday, the regime claimed it “has real concern for the humanitarian situation and innocent lives, as demonstrated by the actions it has and is taking”!

The regime said South Africa’s repeated requests for additional aid to Gaza were an abuse of court procedures.

The regime’s lawyers said South Africa’s court action against Israel and its request for new measures was “morally repugnant.”

Numerous relief organizations have talked of Israeli forces deliberately causing humanitarian suffering in Gaza, where tens of thousands have died in bombings and where famine is looming.

“Much like South Africa’s application that instituted the present proceedings, they are wholly unfounded in fact and law, morally repugnant, and represent an abuse both of the Genocide Convention and of the Court itself,” read the filing.

Israel has killed more than 31,700 Palestinians in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Many legal experts say the Israeli forces’ mass killing of the Gazans amounts to a textbook example of genocide.

South Africa says the regime has failed to uphold its commitments under the 1948 Genocide Convention. It filed the lawsuit against Israel at the end of December.

The African nation has been an outspoken critic of Tel Aviv, denouncing the regime’s genocidal war.

On January 26, the ICJ delivered its interim verdict, ruling that South Africa’s claims were plausible.

It ordered provisional measures, saying the regime must implement steps to prevent genocidal acts and allow humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza.
