The Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement has vehemently denounced the Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced people in Gaza City that killed more than 100 Palestinians and wounded dozens of others, terming the bombing as “a full-fledged war crime.”
“The criminal enemy’s targeting of worshipers in the prayer hall of al-Tabin School in al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza is a complete war crime,” the Palestinian group said in a statement on Saturday.
“The enemy army’s excuses for destroying schools are the same ones it used to destroy hospitals before, and they have been proven false,” it added.
It also said that the failure of international institutions and courts to declare the Zionist entity’s leaders war criminals has contributed to their persistence.
Local media reports, citing witness accounts, said there were about 250 people inside the prayer hall at the school when it was struck by Israeli bombs while displaced people were performing the dawn prayer.
Witness accounts suggest many of the dead and injured are civilians, including women, children and the elderly.
Ismail al-Thawabta, head of Gaza’s Government Media Office, said the Israeli military used three bombs weighing 2,000 pounds (907kg) each in its attack on the al-Tabin school in Gaza City’s al-Daraj neighborhood.
Thawabta added that Israel was aware of the presence of displaced people inside the school.
Local sources said there is a huge influx of people pouring into the al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City after the Israeli attack on al-Tabin school. Many of those arriving are in critical condition.
“Many are arriving either soaked in blood or already pronounced dead,” a source said, adding that the medical facility is on the brink of collapse and unable to provide adequate medical care.
Fatah condemns ‘heinous’ attack on Gaza City school
Meanwhile, the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, condemned the attack as a “heinous bloody massacre,” saying it represents the “peak of terrorism and criminality.”
“Committing these massacres confirms beyond a shadow of a doubt [Israel’s] efforts to exterminate our people through the policy of cumulative killing and mass massacres that make living consciences tremble,” it said in a statement.
Fatah then called on the international community and human rights organizations to “intervene immediately and stop the systematic war of extermination against our people.”
Yemen’s Ansarullah: Enemy committed brutal massacre
For its part, the Yemeni Ansarullah resistance movement also condemned the Israeli attack on Gaza City at dawn this morning that killed at least 100 people.
“The enemy has committed a brutal massacre, with the full US support, against displaced people while they were performing the dawn prayer inside a school in the center of Gaza City.
“We strongly condemn the Zionist fascism, and denounce the United States’ full support to Israel to press ahead with its genocidal crimes in Gaza,” Ansarullah spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Salam said in a statement.
He underscored that Arab and Muslim nations must assume their responsibility for the Palestinians in Gaza, stressing that shame and disgrace anyone who fails in his religious and humanitarian duties.
“Failure to honor the duties encourages the Zionist enemy to continue its unprecedented genocidal crimes,” Abdul-Salam added.
