Discover this mysterious piece of pottery from China’s Neolithic Dawenkou #culture. On display at the Chinese Archaeological Museum in Beijing, this ancient relic has undergone painstaking restoration to appear as it does today. Named for the striking standing bird figure at the top, this ancient bottle-shaped piece features a hollow interior and four symmetrical round holes. Based on its excavation location and the bird motif, some scholars have suggested it may be linked to ancient sun-worshipping practices.
